Problems With Condoms Lead To ‘reduce’ Of Erection.

March 21st, 2010

Nerve stimulation during the sex with new partner, coupled with inappropriate condoms and lack of knowledge about their use can lead to problems with erectile dysfunction, the researchers report.

Such problems may lead to the fact that men have an unprotected sex, and this increases the risk of contracting diseases, sexually transmitted infections.

“These men are more likely to remove condoms during sexual coitus or do not use them at all. They just refuse condoms, because they know that they will not have a reliable erection, and thus expose themselves and his partner at risk,” – says Cynthia Graham, Associate Researcher behalf of the Kinsey Institute for Research on Sex, Gender and Reproduction at Indiana University in the United States and a clinical psychologist at Oxford University in Britain.

In the study of Graham and her colleagues 278 men – patients of clinic of treatment for genital infections in the United States took part in it. All of them used a condom at least three times over the previous three months.

Participants are asked questions about problems with erectile dysfunction, about number of sexual partners, about how often they had unprotected sex, problems with the integrity or the retention of the condom, about the feelings and convenience of condoms. Also knowledge of men about correct condom use was tested.

Researchers found that 27% of men at least once during the previous three months had problems with erection when putting on a condom or during sex. Men who reported problems with erection, during the analyzed period had unprotected sex – an average of 10.6 times to 7 times men who have not experienced such problems.

40% of men had experienced problems with erectile dysfunction reported that condoms were filming before the end of sexual coitus – this percentage is more in twice that men who had no erectile problems. Men who went through during the analyzed period of three or more sexual partners, as well as those who have experienced problems with condom use and complaints to the convenience of condoms, had experienced problems with erection twice as likely.

Perhaps the men who had multiple partners, had sex with new partners, which may lead to increased anxiety and problems with erection, explains Graham.

Although extremely important is education about the correct use of condoms, especially for risk groups, visiting the clinic for the treatment of genital infections, this raises a bigger question, says Graham. “According to our data, most men do not know that problems with erection are common. So it is necessary to talk not only about the correct use of condoms, but about the sex life of men in general. All men have such problems, even young and healthy ones. It is important how they respond to problems with erection.
